I don’t think it’s much of a surprise that I’ve been doing a lot of polls lately about which character is more useful in their respective games. In case you were wondering why then you’ll be happy to know that there was a method behind the madness. You see I’ve been wanting to go back and redo my lists since I don’t think they’re entirely accurate. I’ve been unsure about some of my unit placements, Fates has come out and Tearring Saga exists. So the purpose of these polls was to get help with certain unit placements that have been difficult for me.
Unlike my old Top 10 lists where I make one post at a time these redone lists will consist of me going back and editing them and then showing the entire list when it’s done. This way I won’t just rehash everything, which would be boring. There’s also a couple of extra things to take into consideration when redoing these lists:
- The old rule about only the strongest version of a character is mostly being done away with. The only exception to this rule is with Palla, Catria and Caeda otherwise the Top 10 Pegasus Knight list would simply turn into the “Top 10 Palla, Catria and Caeda clones” list and I don’t think anybody wants to see that.
- Every list will have a bare minimum of 10 units. In the case of lords and cavaliers there will be 15. The reason why lords get 15 is because there are a lot of really good lords in the series and it wouldn’t feel right to only have 10. Cavaliers get 15 because 20 seems like too many but 10 feels like too few so 15 is a reasonable compromise in my head.
- Tearring Saga characters will be included. Tearring Saga is basically Fire Emblem in everything but name only. It even has the copyright lawsuit to prove it. Plus it might help with some lists that don’t have very many good candidates.
The following are a list of changes that I’m planning to make
Lords
- Now a Top 15 list
- Fire Emblem 3 Book 2 Marth will be somewhere in the Top 10
- Corrin’s position will be higher
- Here’s the list of potential candidates that could be included in the new Lords list: FE 12 Marth, Chrom, Ephraim, Holmes (Tearring Saga).
Cavaliers
- Now a Top 15 list
- Xander and Jakob will be on there. Since Jakob’s worth comes from being reclassed to a Paladin he will count as a cavalier.
- FE 6 Marcus and Radiant Dawn Titania will most likely be on here.
- PoR Titania will move down from her previous # 2 spot.
- FE 7 Marcus will most likely be # 2 on the list.
- Kris will no longer be on the list due to being classified as a lord now
- Sain and Kent will most likely move up higher on the list
- Percival will most likely be higher than Ares although I’m still iffy on that one.
- Motherfreaking Narron from Tearring Saga is going to be on here. So will Zieg.
Mages
- Revelation!Hayato will be here, although he will most likely be toward the bottom of the list.
- PoR Soren is getting bumped up from # 10.
Pegasus Knights
- Hinoka will be on here. Not sure which spot though.
- Palla is moving up from her # 4 spot
- There will most likely be a different version of Catria too although this is still up for debate
- There’s a possibility that a Pegasus Knight from Tearring Saga might make the list.
Wyvern Riders
- I’m going to count Raffin from Tearring Saga as a Wyvern Knight. He’s really weird to categorize since he starts out as a Cavalier but ends up promoting into a Wyvern Knight. In either situation I’d be in a weird place but Wyvern Riders need more love than Cavaliers so this is where he’s going.
- Beruka will most likely be here.
- Heath will either move up from his Honorable Mention position or he’ll end up getting bumped off due to there being too many good Wyvern Riders now.
Dark / Light Mages
- Canas will most likely be here. This has less to do with his merits as a unit and more to do with the fact that there aren’t very many dark and light mages in the series to begin with.
- Salem might beat Sara for the # 1 spot. I’m not 100 % sure about this though.
- Leo will most likely end up in a lower spot.
Swordmasters
- There are 2 really good myrmidons / swordmasters from Tearring Saga (Shigen & Vega) who will for sure be on this list.
- RD Mia > Shannon? It’s a bit of a stretch.
Bow User List
- Takumi for sure is no longer # 1. He’ll still be on the list, but he’ll be a significantly lower rank now.
- Shin from Binding Blade will most likely be # 1.
- Revelation!Reina will be on here (and in a high spot)
Healer List
- Claude!Lana will be here although I don’t know how high she will be.
- There’s a warp bot from Tearring Saga who will be on here
- Felicia might end up being higher on the list
- Tina from Thracia 776 might be lower on the list
- There’s a good chance that Elise might not be on the list anymore
It’s doubtful that the Thieves list would change and I have no idea on what changes need to be made for the “Best Heroes” and “Best Armor Knight / Soldier” list. Although a part of me wonders how powerful Oboro, Effie and Nephenee are in relation to each other. These are the changes for now. Any help and advice would be lovely.
P.S. I'm still toying around with Tabitha's idea of a "Top 10 Worst [Insert Class Here] List". What do you guys think? Yea? Nay?
