What do you like about Lucina? I'm used to seeing her get so much shit just for being in Awakening.
ReplyDeleteMy next few posts will detail why I like / don't like these characters. There's a lot I like about Lucina.
DeleteThe tl;dr version: Her interactions with other characters, her personality and perseverance in the face of tribulation, the fact that Laura Bailey is her voice actress and the fact that she doesn't fall into the traps that other female leads fall into.
Oh, okay then.
DeleteI don't get all the Ike love. He's... fine. He is very Mary Sue and I don't find him that interesting. I mean, he has no flaws, and makes no major sacrifice to be a hero for others. Compare this to Sigurd who gives up everything, and Micaiah who has to give up her ability to live her life free of suspicion (being branded she ages slowly so taking on a major military position in a celebrity status is just asking for trouble).
ReplyDeleteNeither Sigurd nor Micaiah actively sacrifice anything. Sigurd has crap happen to him and Micaiah was born with her brand. Sacrifices are voluntary. Also, taking on a major military position is exactly what happened to Micaiah in Radiant Dawn.
DeleteAs I explained earlier I'll make a post detailing why I like all these lords. As for the pejorative "Mary Sue" well due to its lack of a consistent definition it kind of doesn't mean much especially in this context. Most FE lords don't have much in the way of flaws.
Also, I find Ike more interesting and relatable than any other FE lord for, once again, reasons that I'll get to later.
That's fine. I don't relate to him, but I'm used to being alone. The above was more of a personal feelings. But to address the point about active sacrifices Micaiah's was accepting the general status and Sigurd's is similar to her as well. These are choices that will affect the rest of their lives.
DeleteI should point out that Sigurd sent his son to safety figuring he would ultimately die against the Grandbell army. He basically walked into the arena head held high into a battle to the death. I think that ultimately ended up hiding Serlis's existence from Alvis and the Lopt Sect until it was too late.
DeleteGranted, he didn't realize what was going on with Alvis and Diadora. Poor guy was shocked there, I'll give you that.
